Gustaf Arrhenius is Professor of Practical Philosophy at Stockholm University and has lead the Franco-Swedish Program in Philosophy and Economics at Collège d’études mondiales, Paris, and Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS). On November the 1st, he will assume the position as director of the Institute for Futures Studies.

Focus in Arrhenius research lies primarily in moral and political philosophy, and he is especially interested in issues at the intersection of philosophy and the medical and social sciences. He plans to develop several interdisciplinary research programs at the institute, including programs focused on climate change and our obligation to future generations; democracy for the 21st century; new technologies and the future of humanity; and race and gender bias.
The Institute for Futures Studies conducts advanced research within the social sciences. The Institute’s task is to promote a future-oriented perspective in Swedish research, and to use and develop appropriate theories and methods.
