Together with SULF, the Young Academy of Sweden has been arranging a seminar series on research policy issues since 2019. After a break in 2020–2021, it was time for part six of the series. We had the pleasure of listening to Shirin Ahlbäck Öberg, Professor of Political Science at Uppsala University, on the theme of Academic Freedom – for whom?

Shirin was invited to the seminar series already in 2020, but which then had to be postponed. Shirin could now instead present the results from a project that has been completed, namely to compare the governance of higher education institutions before and after the autonomy reform in 2010, which deregulated large parts of the university’s governance.
