My main areas of research are political parties in Europe, public opinion, survey methodology and theories of representative democracy. Much of my research suggests that political parties as institutions and actors contribute to democracies succeeding and performing well. Parties fulfill their functions in the democratic system and contribute to a lively and democratic debate about society's problems and their solutions. In my research, I use institutional and behavior-based theories as well as various research designs and data sources, such as surveys, qualitative interviews, archival documents, or administrative data.
Interests: Politics, culture and sports – both watching and participating.
I want to promote researchers' opportunities to conduct research of the highest quality and to share their knowledge with society.
