I am professor in Baltic languages with main interest in the history of languages. The aim of my research is to identify how the Indo-European languages have evolved over time and how they relate to each other. I have a broad background in linguistics and have conducted research in Gothic, Sanskrit, Avestan, Greek and Latin. I have recently published a book on the Baltic language spoken in East Prussia before the area was conquered by the Teutonic Knights.
I was the Academy’s Chair 2015 –2016.
Born: 1973
Family: Partner and a daughter
Interests: The whole family is interested in languages and travels a lot. We often spend summers in Brittany (France) to learn more about the Celtic language Breton spoken there. Sometimes, however, we travel to Lithuania to visit friends, eat Lithuanian cepelinai, swim, and enjoy the beautiful nature.
Other: When Jenny turned 30, she received a commemorative book from her colleagues.
For me, it has meant an infinite amount to finally have found a context where creativity, curiosity, and seeking knowledge have a natural place in all conversations, activities, and discussions. Additionally, you can always get valuable advice when you need it the most. And that is invaluable.
