I am a mathematician and much of my research focuses on graphs and hypergraphs. A graph is a mathematical model for a network, such as a road network, a portion of the internet, our nervous system, or a description of which people know each other. In my research, I have studied, among other things, how to color graphs and how to break graphs down into simpler subgraphs.
I have also worked on applications of graph theory in computer science, physics, medicine, and more recently in voting theory.

The Young Academy of Sweden provides an opportunity to meet other researchers from many different fields that is rare in Sweden. In addition to all the interesting discussions that arise between members, it also gives us an opportunity to influence the Swedish research environment and research policy, which few others have, thanks to the fact that we do not speak for any specific area or university but for the entire scientific community. In the Young Academy of Sweden, we also have a fun and active outreach program where we can show the public, and children, how fun, fascinating, and engaging research actually is.
