About Virginia's research

I am a docent in English literature with a speciality in medieval literature and culture. My research concerns the connections between the body and religious experience, as well as medicine and ethics, in the Middle Ages and beyond. More recently, I am also interested in methods for digital pedagogy and research training in the humanities. I moved to Sweden shortly after finishing my PhD at Cambridge University and have worked as a researcher here for several years. I am now a Pro Futura Scientia fellow at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study.

In brief

Born: 1981
Interests: In my spare time, I enjoy books and music, visiting museums, and appreciating good food, drinks, and spending time with friends. Additionally, I do a lot of training - I am a powerlifter.
Other: I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama.

Being a member of the Young Academy of Sweden I want to be a part of the conversation about the future of research and higher education.
