On Friday, YAS participated in the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions’ (SUHF) and the research funders’ annual dialogue seminar, which this year dealt with the highly topical issues “Merit and merit assessment” and “Sweden’s strategy for Horizon Europe”.

YAS was invited to comment on the keynote speech given by Ulrike Felt, professor of Science and Technology Studies, who among other things researches “Values and evaluation in science”. She gave a very interesting speech and presented, among many other things, the concept “Methics – the ethics of metrics”.
In his subsequent reflection, YAS chair Sebastian Westenhoff highlighted the importance of peer review as a golden standard in merit assessment. Sebastian also pointed out that it’s important that also the review processes are evaluated for quality. Subsequently, CEO Sverker Lundin and Sebastian participated in further group discussions on merit assessment. During the second part of the dialogue seminar, Sweden’s strategy for Horizon Europe was discussed.
