Today, the nomination opens for the Research Beacon – the Young Academy of Sweden’s award for the dissemination of knowledge. The aim is to highlight younger researchers in Sweden who have made outstanding contributions to spreading knowledge, especially to children and young adults. Anyone can nominate.
Some researchers become guides and ignite interest, raise questions, and show the younger generation how knowledge can navigate us through uncertainty. We want to highlight those who, despite limited time and few incentives, do this.

The Young Academy of Sweden shines a spotlight on engaged younger researchers who guide and inspire children and young people, a central target group that represents the future and deserves the best possible conditions. We also aim to increase the visibility of research communication and engage more researchers in this enjoyable task.
Anyone can nominate. The nomination period is open from 10 February to 28 March. The prize will be awarded at the Young Academy of Sweden’s large annual conference on 23 October. The prize amount consists of a personal award of 10,000 kronor.
I look forward to the jury work with the researchers from the Young Academy of Sweden and journalism colleagues, and as always, to be inspired by science. Looking at the world through that lens makes it easy to be blown away.
