How can open, democratic societies be protected and strengthened in the 21st century? My research draws on the history of the twentieth century to offer perspectives on some of the most pressing societal challenges today. I am particularly interested in the role of children and young people in history – as actors, citizens, and targets of adult ideas and interests. In recent works, I have examined youth engagement in global issues during the postwar era. Now, I explore questions related to societal preparedness and civil defense. How are young people affected when society once again prepares for war? One of my research projects investigates preparedness education in Sweden during the Cold War.
Another strand of my research focuses on the history of knowledge – a field where we investigate how knowledge is shaped, circulates, and gains meaning in society.
Born: 1982
Interests: I have running as a hobby and have, among other things, written a biography about Gunder Hägg, the famous runner that is – not the prog band of the same era. To be fair, I do enjoy listening to them as well.
Other: I learned to juggle with the help of an encyclopaedia on CD-ROM (yes, it was in the nineties!). Dreamed for a long time of becoming a poet.
I have long been interested in issues related to research communication and the position of science in society. I want to contribute to bridging the gap between academia and society…
