The discussion revolved around career paths and academic merit systems, including the differences between a senior lecturer and assistant professorships  (BUL), what applies during funding gaps, and how long the employment as a BUL needs to be before a docentship application can become relevant. The process to become a member of Young Academy also sparked interest.

A Beginner’s Guide to Swedish Academia, developed by the Young Academy of Sweden, provides a valuable overview for new researchers and helps navigate the Swedish research landscape.
