Together with the other young academies of the Nordics, the Young Academy of Sweden visited Copenhagen to discuss how Nordic collaboration in research and education could be strengthened and developed.

The Nordic Council of Ministers for Education, Research and Language has developed a cooperation programme valid until 2030, and a work plan valid until 2027. The Young Academy of Sweden has previously contributed input to the work plan. At that time, the Academy highlighted, among other things, the importance of the Nordics having a strong and unified focus on academic freedom, long-term funding conditions, and researchers’ ability to conduct free, curiosity-driven research.
Before the work on the next work plan, representatives from the Council of Ministers invited all young academies in the Nordics to discuss their priorities. In addition to the points raised in the input, the Young Academy of Sweden highlighted opportunities to strengthen mobility in the region by discussing common merit systems and career paths, as well as the possibility that NordForsk could fund doctoral networks.
